Background

Robert T. “Robby” Tolbert, P.E. is a licensed Professional Engineer with over 39 years of work experience in mechanical, industrial and construction industries.

Growing up in a small rural environment, he worked on tractors, lawn mowers, automobiles, motorcycles, and other machines.  He was an avid drag racer for almost ten years, doing all of the mechanical work and driving duties himself. During high school, he worked in a grocery store, as an auto mechanic and later he drove a delivery truck for a machine shop tooling and alloy supplier, entering most of the machine shops in and around Birmingham, Alabama.

Beginning his mechanical work experience as an auto mechanic in high school, the next experience was in the United States Navy, working as a welder, pipe-fitter, damage control man, and machinist.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he then worked in machine shops and fabricating shops as a welder/machinist for the next five years.

After that period of time, Mr. Tolbert then owned and operated an excavation contracting service.  This included operation and repair of heavy equipment (bulldozers, backhoes, scrapers, etc.) and trucks (dump trucks and tractor trailer trucks).  Then he began to pursue the two engineering degrees he has obtained since that time.

He has worked as an engineer in consulting engineering firms, designing paper mills, food plants, beer plants and chemical plants.  He has worked for manufacturers of mobile engine driven equipment for the logging and railroad industries.  Employment also involved designing conveyors, robotics and materials handling equipment for materials handling manufacturers.  He has designed fume ventilation systems, fans, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.  As a Project engineer for a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) retrofit company, he has upgraded older machinery with new state-of-the-art GE-Fanuc CNC Equipment.  Certified as an automobile, motorcycle, pedestrian and truck accident reconstructionist by Northwestern University, this has qualified him to perform numerous automobile accident reconstructions.  Currently holding two U.S. Patents, with two more in the works, Mr. Tolbert is an innovative individual.  Technically qualified with two degrees and professional registration in several states, hands-on experience, natural insight for analytical thought involving machinery, accidents or structures, Robert T. Tolbert, P.E., is an excellent engineer for design, analysis, consultation or testimony.
